Product Description

GLASS MICROFIBER FILTERS
Precision Filtration Solutions for Environmental & Industrial Applications

Description
Glass microfiber filters are engineered for exceptional particle capture efficiency and reliability in critical monitoring and research scenarios. Available in two configurations to meet diverse operational needs:

1️⃣ Standard Binder-Free Glass Microfiber Filter Papers
• Ultra-High Purity: >99.95% SiO₂ composition ensures minimal analyte interference (metal leaching <0.01μg/cm²)
• Temperature Resistance: Operates stably up to 550°C (short-term) / 450°C (continuous), ideal for high-temperature emission monitoring
• Low Ash Content: <0.005% residual ash after combustion, perfect for trace metal analysis (e.g., EPA Method 5)

2️⃣ Binder-Incorporated Glass Microfiber Filter Papers
• Enhanced Mechanical Strength: Polymeric binder improves handling durability without compromising pore structure
• Hydrophobic Coating Option: Contact angle >140°, prevents liquid breakthrough in humid or corrosive environments
• Consistent Flow Rate: Maintains 98% initial flow rate after 500+ hours of continuous use (ISO 4783 certified)

Standard Binder-Free Glass Microfiber Filter Papers

HWGFA (1.6 μm)
This grade filter paper offers fine particle retention, high flow rate, and good loading capacity.

Applications:
• High-efficiency general purpose laboratory filtration, including water pollution monitoring of effluents
• Filtration of water, algae, and bacteria cultures
• Food analysis, protein filtration, and radioimmunoassay of weak β emitters
• Gravimetric determination of airborne particulates, stack sampling, and absorption methods for air pollution monitoring
• Card-mounted filters for static sample and personal air sampler applications
• Aerosol sampling and particulate monitoring with high flow rates and minimal sample interference

 HWGFB (1.0 μm)
• Three times thicker than HWGFA with higher wet strength and significantly increased loading capacity
• Combines fine particle retention with good flow rate
• Particularly useful for liquid clarification or solids quantification in heavily-loaded, fine particulate suspensions
• Can be used as a finely retentive membrane prefilter
• Ideal for LSC techniques where high loading capacity is required

HWGFC (1.2 μm)
• Combines fine particle retention with good flow rate
• Standard filter in many parts of the world for collecting suspended solids in potable water and natural/industrial wastes
• Fast and efficient clarification of aqueous liquids containing low to medium levels of fine particulates
• Widely used for cell harvesting, liquid scintillation counting, and binding assays requiring higher loading capacity

HWGFD (2.7 μm)
Considerably faster in flow rate and overall filtration speed than cellulose filter papers with similar particle retention. This filter is thick and exhibits high loading capacity. Designed as a membrane prefilter and available in sizes to fit most holders.

Key Features:
• Provides excellent protection for finely retentive membranes
• Can be used in combination with HWGFB to provide very efficient graded prefilter protection for membranes

HWGFF (0.7 μm)
This high-efficiency filter retains fine particles down to 0.7 μm. Unlike membrane filters with comparable retention values, it offers very rapid flow rate and extremely high loading capacity.

Special Applications:
• Foundation material for EPA Method TCLP 1311 (Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure) due to tight specification of 0.6–0.8 μm particle retention and pure borosilicate glass structure
• Recommended for nucleic acid binding and purification
• Very effective for filtering finely precipitated proteins
• Can be used in conjunction with HWGFD as a prefilter for successful clarification of extremely difficult biochemical solutions, fluids, and nucleic acids

HWGAH (1.5 μm)
This popular grade offers superior fine particle retention with high retention efficiency at high flow rates and high loading capacity. Features a smooth surface, high-retention borosilicate glass microfiber construction that has been pre-fired and withstands temperatures over 550°C.

Applications:
• Determining total suspended solids in water and removing turbidity
• Filtration of bacterial cultures
• Water pollution monitoring, cell harvesting, and liquid scintillation counting
• Air pollution monitoring
• Available in Ready-to-Use (RTU) formats for Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and Volatile Suspended Solids (VSS)

HWEPM2000
HWEPM2000 has been selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in high-volume air sampling equipment that collects atmospheric particulates and aerosols. Manufactured from 100% pure borosilicate glass of special purity and pre-fired to enable detailed chemical analysis of trace pollutants with minimum interference or background contamination.
